I started visiting Barbara and Alan in the summer of 2023 helping them with different jobs they couldn't manage and some cleaning too...It was always a pleasure to see them both as we all got on so well!
After Alan sadly passed away earlier this year I starred seeing Barbara a bit more sometimes taking her to appointments or doing some lunch for her and we became good friends....
We would often sit and have a cup of tea together and put the world to rights and sometimes Trevor the Gardener would join us for some banter too!!! Barbara loved this and so did I....it was all very comfortable and happy!!
She was a lovely lady and I miss seeing her so much!
I will always remember her and the lovely memories I have will always make me smile!
Thankyou Barbara!!

I am very grateful for coming to know Barbara and her second husband Alan when I moved to Pagham in 2015. They came to services at St Thomas à Becket's church whenever Barbara was well enough, as she was a longstanding member of the Church with a deep personal faith in Jesus, and Alan's devotion to her was obvious to us all. She was active in Church life, including leading the Church Ladies' Club for many years, when Alan would bring her and help set up and clear the hall. In September 2018, the 'Story of Pagham Weddings' was celebrated in the church, and their own beautiful outfits from 2000 were displayed near the entrance. These can be seen in the gallery of photos, 8th from the top on the left side, on this page:

I thank God for Barbara and for Alan, who died in April 2024, remembering them with a grateful heart for all they gave me in friendship and fascinating conversations, and for their lives of loving service of others.
