Eric James Woodason

Eric James Woodason

03.03.1929 - 23.06.2017

Eric (Woody) loving husband to Doreen (Don), devoted Father to Guy and Jackie, fun-loving Papa (Grandfather) to Gemma, Gary, Emily and Henry and Great Papa to Carter.

Eric sadly lost his fight in June 2017 after battling with Psychotic Depression.

In his younger days Eric spent time in the Army and told many tales of his army days both about his work and various antics !

He met Don when still a teenager and they were truly ‘teenage sweethearts’. He worked alongside his Father in Law, and wife and created a thriving Renault Dealership in Hammersmith, London.

As a get away from London life Eric and Don bought a small property on West Sussex – first Lancing, then Selsey and finally settled in Pagham. During this time Eric, Guy and Jackie Took up sailing and became involved in Pagham Yacht Club where Eric was voted on as a Committee member and finally became a Trustee. As you would expect Eric organised many social and fundraising events as well as annual Dinner and Dances.

On retiring he and Don became Property Developers and built and updated many local properties in the Pagham area. The plans and details of all these properties have been safely archived by Eric.

During this time he was a much loved Papa to his Grandchildren, who will have many tales of their adventures, that they will be able to pass on through the generations.

He was a wonderful man full of fun and laughter. He loved to cook, entertain and organise ‘get togethers’. He was always first on the dance floor and last to leave it!!

Your zest for life will live with us all forever, always in our hearts.

Oh how I remember Eric and those wonderful Pagham Yacht Club days. The winter parties at Manor Park. Two songs of that era will live in my head forever, Yellow River and Mouldy Ol' Dough. I can still hear him calling "Two teams over here!" Totally fun and fabulous man, loved by everyone.
