Bon Voyage Vernon. Thank you for all your years of loyal service to Reynolds and kindness and dedication to all the families we care for. You always put yourself out to help others when needed. I will never forget the help and experience you passed onto me especially when I started with Reynolds. Your dry sense of humour will be missed and your memory will always be with us. I have known Vernon and Sue for well over 30 years, when Daniel was a Beaver at 1st Yapton & Ford Scout Group and Sue helped with the Beaver section. Not to be left behind, Vernon decided to support his family in their activities and he joined the Scout Group fundraising committee to help raise funds to maintain the headquarters at Drove Lane in Yapton and ensure the various activities the young people wanted to do were supported. Little did I know that many years later I would be working with Vernon at Reynolds. His role at Reynolds Funeral Service was in a way very similar to his support of the Scout Group, working in the background to ensure things ran smoothly for all the staff and the families he worked with. Nothing was too much for Vernon, you could ask his advice and he would do anything to help. On some occasions I wasn’t sure if he was pulling my leg with the very subtle response he would give and a slight wry grin. The last communication I had with Vernon sums him up extremely well, he said that ‘he felt that he always put people and their families first’ when at work, personally I think it extended beyond his working life…

Where do I start. My whole life having you in it was a ton of memories you were my dad. I have been lucky to have you in my life through good and bad but I always remember the best. You always taught me to keep smiling and hold my chin up. So all I can say is I hope I make you smile every day with your chin up. Dad you will be missed more than ever each day. I love you dad. And my heart will go on xx

Vernon was a great friend and a true gentleman. He always called the ladies 'My Dear'. We had great days out with him. We went to Winter Wonderland in November 2019, it was so funny watching Vernon getting off the Carousel bar after he'd had a few. He slept on the train all the way home. When we went out in the evenings Vernon liked to be able to see all the people walking past, namely the young ladies with not a lot on. We will miss those great Friday nights out.
All our love, rest in peace.
Paul, Amy and family.

Vernon was a great guy with a heart of gold. He was a man of few words but always willing to do anything for you, whether at work or helping you out personally. Family meant everything to Vernon, he always showed an interest in mine and never forgot my children at Christmas and Easter. A very sad loss of a man I worked alongside for 14 years. Your legacy at Reynolds will live on for years to come.
RIP Vernon, you will be missed.

To my amazing father-in-law well what can I say, still can't believe you're not here. You are the kindest man I know with the biggest heart, nothing was every too much trouble and always there for people.
I have a memory of us two in the Turkish night club dancing the night away. I will have very special memories. It has been a pleasure getting to know you and to call you dad.
RIP Vernon love and miss you so much
