Ruby welcomed myself and my brother Rob into her life as her honorary grandchildren after our mother Sophie met Hans. Not only did we gain Hans who is a special man we gained a grandmother who was a truly exceptional woman. I’m so grateful to have known her and she was and continues to be a true inspiration. I will always remember fondly the Christmas we sat either side of her in awe of her photo albums & stories from her life in the circus. A truly remarkable woman. We love you Ruby. Love Sally & Rob Xx

Ruby was a remarkable woman and long time friend of my mother Pat Read who sadly will be unable to attend her funeral. I met Ruby many times when mum came to visit her down here in sunny Bognor Regis. She would amaze us with her stories of life in the circus and her unconditional love for her husband Bob. Ruby was a determined lady especially with the will of an Ox to hang on to her driving and independence almost to her last days. Ruby wouldn't judge she just listened and gave support to those she met and offered the kindness of friendship as much as she could. Dear Ruby a woman of faith you will be missed but now can trapeze freely amongst the clouds and heaven above. All our love Laurence, Ian, Pat and Debbie xx

I wrote to my Auntie Ruby for many decades. I always looked forward to her letters --
lively accounts of her activities. When I visited her and Bob many years ago, she drove
me to many places. My favourite memory is our visit to Hever Castle. She surprised
me with a picnic lunch, which we ate on the lovely grounds. She was truly a wonderful person, who touched many lives. She certainly touched mine. I like to think that
she is holding hands with my Mum, and they are laughing together.

We visited England every summer and would love seeing Ruby water her flowers and tomato plants. When we had tea with Ruby, she would talk about her family and life in the circus. We loved going to any circus, visiting nearby, with Ruby. As we watched people swinging from the trapeze Ruby would say "I used to do that". During her time with the circus she would ride elephants or stand up on galloping horses. Ruby always invited Joanna to help with one of her exercises classes at Kingfisher. We would tell our friends and family in Canada how this remarkable woman would be teaching exercise classes and helping at her Church until the age of 89. "RUBY", Joanna will always love and remember you as "Auntie Ruby" and "cousin" I'll try and keep exercising until we meet again in Heaven at your exercise class. Love you Sue & Joanna in Canada
