Philomena Dunk

26.05.1933 - 11.01.2019

Philomena (Phil) Dunk, was born in Wexford, Ireland in 1933, the youngest of 6 children born to Mary and Richard Corish.  Phil left school at 14 and at 18 she travelled to Shenley, Hertfordshire to take up work as a nurse at Shenley Psychiatric hospital.  She lived in the nurses home and worked there until her marriage to Richard Dunk in 1959.  Phil had 4 children Tony, Kevin, Lorraine and David and lived in Borehamwood until 2012 when she moved to Greenways Care Home in Bognor after developing dementia.

Philomena was very much loved by her daughter Lorraine and the carers at Greenways who looked after her in the later stages of her life. She is greatly missed.

Greenways was Philomena's home for many years and she will be sadly missed, I enjoyed my job role as a carer providing her with the care and love she needed. Philomena had such a lovely character. RIP Phil

Philomena was a very big part of my time at Greenways as she came just after I started, she was always happy, cheeky and loved walking around, she would often take your hand to walk with her and say "come on" she has left a very big hole here at Greenways, the home just isn't the same without her! Rest in perfect peace my angel you are missed so much.

Lots of love Lizi xxxx

My Favourite Memory About Philomena was when she stopped me in the corridor and she put her arms around me to give me a cuddle. Philomena was a very happy and content Resident at Greenways, she also had a smile on her face. She had a cheeky side to her and would walk past you and tap your bottom. Philomena will be very missed.

My fondest memory is when you sat next to me during a music therapy session and I was singing to you while we were holding hands. I saw you smile...... That was the first time I saw you smile..... you made my heart melt. I will treasure that forever.
RIP Phil. Heaven has gained another beautiful angel.

I will always have fond memories of Philomena walking around the home collecting items of interest to her. Philomena spent a lot of time in my office moving my paperwork about and always used to giggle when I asked for things back. She is truly missed. Rest in perfect peace Phil.
